This week I love...
...holiday! I've been off work this week but haven't gone anywhere or made any special plans so I've really just stayed at home - slept until noon, done some painting, been changing some furniture around and generally just really enjoyed the time off.
I've been listening to my favourite music (dancehall and r'n'b, if you're wondering), been watching the Olympics and especially Usain Bolt (he's incredible, right?!) and I've spent hours and hours clicking away in Pinterest. Ha hah! What a great holiday it's been.
But now my holiday and it seems, summer, is coming to an end. To try and make it last just a little bit longer I thought this week's top five is going to be something to remind of summer.
1. First, summer reading... I got these two books recently and have really enjoyed looking through the ideas and planning what I'm going to do next. They're perfect for capturing that summer feeling and getting some ideas for next summer.
Kesäkoteja. Innostu Ideoi Sisusta
WSOY
Written by Sania Hedengren and Susanna Zacke.
Kesäkoteja first shows you different rooms - living room, bedroom etc. and tells you how to decorate and create the right feeling for summer, then follows with the garden and the outside and then gives you diy ideas to do in those areas. The last chapter is dedicated to Christmas.

Ideoi ja toteuta kotoisa maalaistyyli is a more straight forward diy book. Full of ideas on how to brighten up your home it gives clear and easy instructions to many different projects from sewing to painting.
There's also a book that I've got my eye on... If anyone has got it, let me know how it is. It seems VERY interesting.

2. Next up, summer fashion that will take you through to the autumn. You can still use your summer wardrobe essentials, you just need to update them a bit...
Your summer dress will still work as long as you prepare for the chilly evenings with a cover up - in this case it is a leather jacket, which is very on trend at the moment, but it could just as well be a blazer or a chunky knit.
Wear the exact same outfit you would have worn a month ago but this time add a jumper under your blazer. Just a thin jumper is fine for now. It's not that cold yet!
Your favourite maxi skirt or dress will still work now as long as you pair it with a jumper or a jacket. This is one of the looks that can take you quite far into autumn but still feels summery. The colours will decide the look - pale colours and pastels will keep you in the summer whereas darker and more autumny hues will update this look for the autumn.
And the easiest option... Layers. You can wear that little skirt and top or a sheer summer dress, just throw a cardigan on top. And maybe grab a scarf as well, just in case. To really emphasise the look.

3. The best thing about summer is eating outside. When the sun is shining there's nothing better than setting up the table outside, throw some food on the barbeque and enjoy the day. You can still do this now. This weekend is meant to be nice, so gather up your friends and family and enjoy the last days of summer with a sunny lunch.
4. What could be more summery than a bunch of flowers on your table. If you're lucky you can still find some peonies somewhere but the time of the summer flowers is starting to be over and it's time to think of other options...I saw my first sunflowers today and they're both very summery because of their sunshine shape but they also have that hint of autumn as they start to bloom in August - at the beginning of the autumn. So, bring the sunshine in with these beauties.
5. And lastly, in the summer you always have weddings, parties, fairs and events to attend. But don't worry, just because the autumn time is approaching you can still find plenty of interesting places to visit.
One of these is an event that I'm really excited about... Here are the details you need and for more info you can check out the blog and read more about it here.
