TGIF - thank god it's Friday

Yes, yes, yes! It's Friday, the sun is shining and the weekend is here. What are you up to? I still have work tomorrow but there's plenty of time to enjoy the sun after work too. The pros of going to work early is also leaving early. Yay! This week I thought I'd write about SUMMER OUTSIDE. Whether you have a small balcony, a patio or a massive garden, the summer is best enjoyed outside. Here are some tips, ideas and thoughts about what should or could happen out there.

1. Go green...
Summer outside needs plants, flowers and everything green. Put them in pots, plant them on the ground or best of all, hang them up. They instantly make your outside space look summer ready. You can either choose a colour theme like the white in the picture (which I looooove) or you can go wild and mix and match different colours. If ever you can do that, it's in the summer.

2. Eating outside
If you have an outside space, try setting the table outdoors. Even small things like morning coffee become more luxurious when you enjoy them outside. Use crisp white linen and flowers from the nature to emphasise the feeling of dining al fresco. If you don't have an outside space, how about setting up a picnic in a nearby park?

3. Sunbathing
Enjoy the sun in a comfortable lounger or even a hammock if you have one. The main thing is that you can lean back and have the sun shine warmly on you. Just don't forget to wear sunscreen!!

4. Water
It's nice to have some kind of water element in your outside space. I wish I was lucky enough to have a pool but the closest I'll get is a small kids' inflatable paddling pool. Ha hah! If you have the space then a pool is the ultimate luxury. A smaller backyard can transform with a hot tub. It's enough to keep you cool on those warm summer days. On a balcony, you can have a small fountain. It's so relaxing listening to the sound of the water.

5. Relaxing
Ultimately, the most important thing to do outside this summer is to relax!!! You can pick one of the activities above or do whatever makes you happy. Read a book, paint (on a canvas or a wall), excercise, listen to music. Pick one and enjoy the summer... outside!
