TGIF - Thank god it's Friday

How on earth can it be Friday already?! I swear time is flying by now that spring has properly begun. So fast in fact that I seem to have missed one Friday already. Ha hah! Oh well, let's skip that and concentrate on today. I thought I'd look a little bit at this spring and summer's INTERIOR TRENDS. Especially now that we're spending more time at home it's nice to do some small (or bigger) DIY jobs at home, renovate, paint, change curtains and do everything in between. Let's have a look at what I've selected...

1. Plates and cups that look like you made them...
I am so into organic looking, ceramic plates, cups and bowls. The more uneven the edge the better. And I love that they look like you took a pottery class and made them yourself. Flea markets are a great place to look for 80s dishes which totally work with this trend or you can try for example H&M Home for some gorgeous alternatives. Mix with linen napkins and impress your dinner guests!

2. Under the sea...
Everything and anything sea related seems to be having a moment. Sea shells, corals, fish and nautical colours can be found pretty much everywhere. This is an easy trend to try as you don't need much. Just a few shells or a new cushion cover and you're ready to go. I got this gorgeous white "coral" for my birthday and I already had some shells and sea stars stashed away. Now I just need to build a few displays with these elements and I'll be right on trend. :)

3. The new it plant...
We've already seen the fiddle fig (lyyraviikuna), monstera (peikonlehti) and epipremnum (kultaköynnös) but what is the next big thing in the plant world? In this case small is beautiful and succulents are having a real moment. If you already have these little beauties lying around try grouping them together to make a bigger statement. And hey, terracotta pots never hurt! They work great together even if they're all different shapes and sizes because of the common colour. Try Søstrene Grene for some really beautiful pots.

4. Colours, colours, colours...
What is the trendiest colour? Well, that depends on who you ask. Pantone, who famously chooses a colour of the year suggests Classic Blue. I personally hate blue so I looked for alternatives... The Finnish paint company Tikkurila, has chosen a lighter tone, Lemonade. That's a lovely pale yellow and goes well with a neutral colour palette favoured by the Scandinavians. The colour that I love is Jotun Lady's suggestion - a deep mauve. Or is that plum? Well, either way this warm, elegant shade looks just as beautiful in small details as it does on big walls. Note! This will be especially hot in the autumn.

5. It's art, baby
The favourite posters, pictures and postcards seem to have one thing in common - a line drawing of a human face. Pinterest is full of great images to print and frame or try Desenio for some beautiful options. Have you already got this on your wall?
