Maison Martin Margiela with H&M

It has been revealed today that...

The next designer collaboration for H&M is with Maison Martin Margiela.

After the success they had last year with the mega brand, Versace, they have chosen a little less known brand for this year's collaboration. Though I'm sure the fashion crowd will be making a shopping list as we speak, I think that for most H&M customers, Maison Martin Margiela isn't the most familiar name. So, here's some info on the brand to get you going:

- Martin Margiela is a Belgian born designer but no longer heads the brand himself.
- His name remained after he left the company in 2009 and a new design team is responsible for the look nowadays.
- During Martin's time, the fashion house was known for being rather avant-garde but it seems their moving to a more commercial direction.
- The trademarks of the brand - quirky details, clean lines and sharp tailoring, is still evident but compared to previous collections the direction is shifting and their A/W 2012-13 collection is already aimed at a wider audience. (And with H&M, the audience doesn't get much wider than that.)
- The collection will be available in stores and online from 15 November and will include both womenswear and menswear.

And don't forget the other collaboration H&M is doing this autumn... The editor-at-large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan, Anna Dello Russo is designing her own accessory collection that will be in stores and online just less than a month earlier, 4 October. You can find more info on the ADR for H&M here. I'm super excited about this one as I love love love accessories.

It'll be a busy autumn for you, fashion fans. I'll see you at the queues.
