This week I love...

This week is all about Juhannus, Midsummer's Eve. A traditional and very important day in the Finnish and Scandinavian calendar. It's all about good food and drinks, good company, sauna and the sun that doesn't set. Amazing! And definitely something you should try to experience at least once in your life.

Juhannus is the Christmas of the summer. Cities become deserted when people head over to their summer cottages and the best Juhannus is often spent by a lake or the sea somewhere, relaxing, eating and of course, going to the sauna.

I came to our summer cottage yesterday and already have been to the sauna, seen a duck with its tiny ducklings and witnessed a beautiful sunset. Soon, there'll be a feast of fabulous food, laughter and then later we'll go to the sauna. My first Juhannus in Finland for a while... :)

There won't be a list of five favourite things this week. As it is Juhannus, the fab five will simply be:

1. Summer cottage

2. Sun

3. Good food and drink

4. Good company - my mum, dad, aunt and uncle

5. Sauna

Hyvää Juhannusta! Enjoy the Midsummer's Eve!
